Basundi is a rich condensed milk dessert, generally served with chopped nuts such as almonds, cashews, and pistachios, edible gold or silver foil and flavoured with cardamom and saffron. It is popular in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra & Andhra Pradesh and predominantly prepared for Deepavali. Basundi is usually reserved for festivals and special occasions because of the amount of time it needs to prepare. Milk needs to boil on low heat for hours to thicken enough and needs to be stirred constantly. iPaaka Basundi Mix takes the effort out of preparing this dish so that you and your family can enjoy it more often.

The mix can also be used to make rabri, kulfi, kheer and other milk-based desserts. The possibilities are endless!

Ingredients: Milk Cream, Almonds, Cashews, Pistachios, Saffron, Cardamom & Sugar

Cooking Method:

  • Heat about 75ml of milk in a thick bottom vessel
  • Add 50g (3 tbsps) of iPaaka Basundi to it and stir continuously.  The mixture starts to thicken in about 3-5 mins
  • Switch off the flame once it has a thick soup like consistency and let it cool down to room temperature. Refrigerate for 1-2 hrs and serve chill.  Serves 1.

Tip: Once Basundi cools down, you can pour it into kulfi moulds and freeze for 3-4 hrs.
